Replacing the Stocky low stock report
Ask a merchant what they used Stocky for and the honest answer is often one screen: the low stock report. It goes on 31 August 2026 along with the rest of the app. Replacing that one screen does not require replacing the whole suite.

What the report actually did
Stocky's low stock view listed items below a reorder point so you could see what needed ordering. It combined three things: a stock level read from Shopify, a threshold you had configured somewhere and a list sorted so the urgent items surfaced.
None of those three is technically difficult. What made it valuable was that the three sat together in one place, so answering "what do I need to order" took a few seconds rather than an export and a spreadsheet.
Why a report was always the weaker shape
A report has one structural flaw and it has nothing to do with how good the report is. You have to remember to open it.
Stockouts do not happen in the weeks when things are calm and you have time to check screens. They happen during a promotion, in the run up to a holiday or when a supplier slips, which is exactly when nobody is opening reports. The report was accurate every one of those weeks. It just was not read.
An alert inverts that. The system carries the responsibility for noticing, not the person. This is the single biggest practical upgrade available when you replace the Stocky report. It is available on every option below.
The options that cover it
| Option | Cost | Honest assessment |
|---|---|---|
| Shopify admin inventory view | Free | Filter and sort by quantity. Genuinely fine for a small catalogue. Still a screen you have to remember to open. |
| Shopify Flow | Free on paid plans | Emails you on a threshold, so it does arrive on its own. Gets unwieldy when different products need different numbers. |
| Low stock alerts app | Free tier upward | Per SKU thresholds, every location handled separately and several recipients. What you want if the report mattered. |
| Full inventory suite | Tens per month upward | Correct if you also raised purchase orders. Expensive if the report is genuinely all you used. |
Carry your thresholds across
Before Stocky goes, write down the reorder points you were working to. That number is the only part of your Stocky setup that encodes real knowledge about your business: how fast something sells and how long a supplier takes.
If you never set them deliberately and everything sat on a default, take the opportunity to set them properly. The method is in how to set a low stock threshold. It is lead time based rather than a round number.
The low stock report, as an email
Stockwell watches every variant at every location and emails your team when something drops under your threshold, with a daily summary of everything running down. The report you used, without needing to open it.
Get Stockwell on the Shopify App Store Free plan covers 50 SKUs with a daily summary. Paid plans add instant alerts and more recipients. No card needed to start.Common questions
Is there a free replacement for the Stocky low stock report?
Yes, two. The Shopify admin inventory view filters by quantity at no cost and Shopify Flow can email you on a threshold and is free on paid plans. Stockwell also has a free plan covering 50 SKUs with a daily summary.
Can I still see stock levels per location after Stocky goes?
Yes. Per location quantities live in Shopify itself rather than in Stocky, so that data is unaffected. What you lose is Stocky's view over it and its reorder point logic.
